APPROACH TO CHURCH DESIGN
A Church is unlike any other architectural structure and its function is profoundly different from that of any other building. Within its walls a congregation experiences a sense of peace, comfort and joy, while enjoying a spiritual uplifting when members gather to worship…. “gathering together unto God in unity and oneness.”
The success of a Church and the effectiveness of its programs through the years will depend not only upon its physical function, but also upon the Church’s geographical location, the suitability of its property, and the Church’s specific placement on the site.
When considering the long-range planning of a church complex, a comprehensive evaluation of all factors affecting the Church’s growth and development must be undertaken. The results of this evaluation provide a road map to help the church reach its goals, without limiting its direction or growth. This road map, or Master Plan, must be cast from professional knowledge and Christian theologies, tempered by human realism and practical considerations.
Chenault & Associates Architects evaluates these areas of concern in depth and makes specific recommendations through planning and design for the future direction of the growth and development of the Church. A Church’s facilities should radiate its mission to the community. This impression is created through the physical appearance of the facility as well as the actual sense of pleasure and joy in worshipping that is experienced within its confines. Chenault & Associates endeavors to design each Church facility in a way that enhances the church’s overall mission to the community.
